Dyldam Parramatta Eels hooker and utility, Isaac De Gois, is celebrating his 200th NRL game this week when the team takes on the Sydney Roosters on Saturday night at Allianz Stadium for their Round 23 clash.
“When you first play, it is obviously something you dream about and a privilege. To rack up 200 is something I am very honoured with.”
“Considering there is only 20 odd games a year, you have to be in the game consistently which I have been. Injury plays a big part in it so I have been lucky in that sense too.”
“There are a few highlights. I have played a few major semis, apart from that I haven’t played the ultimate (a Grand Final) but hopefully some time soon would be nice.” De Gois added.
Coming off a 10-4 victory over the Panthers in Darwin’s TIO Stadium last week, De Gois says the Blue and Gold will need to be ready for a another tough encounter against a Roosters side that boasts plenty of dangers.
“They are a quality side with a strong forward back and outside backs. Throughout the park they are all quality,” De Gois said.
“We will definitely be up for the challenge coming off a win last week which is nice but we will do everything we can to prepare to go up there and get the win.”
The win over the Panthers will give the Eels plenty of confidence, and De Gois is looking forward to the challenge of testing himself against what he rates as the best in the competition.
“Every win you gain confidence. But like I said, the Roosters are probably the inform team at the moment, so there is no better way than testing yourself up against the best,” De Gois said.
“I think their outside backs are massive strikes, but in my opinion, being a forward, their middle is their strength as well as their interchange. Their bench is very strong so our top 17 all have to contribute.”
“I would rather play against the best to see where we are at.”
“We will do some video now with Brad to see what kind of plan the coaches come up with and assess from there but they are a quality side so we will need to be on our A game.” De Gois added.
