The Dyldam Parramatta Eels will take on the South Sydney Rabbitohs this Friday night (27 March 2015) at Pirtek Stadium with the Round Four clash being the Eels #SalutetoService game of 2015.
The Eels “Salute to Service” Round is a way of saying thankyou by involving servicemen and women from the defence forces as well as local frontline services like police, ambulance and fire.
The local frontline services and other servicemen and women from the defence forces will also have a presence in ‘TryLine City’ - the precinct area of Pirtek Stadium.
In the lead up to the Eels second home game of the season, we will be highlighting some of these servicemen and women.
“I am a Parramatta local and have always lived in the area, from when I was born up until today,” said Kevin McSweeney - NSW Ambulance Inspector - Duty Operations Manager, Sydney West.
“I have been a lifelong supporter of the Eels so I have seen them from the ordinary times through to the really good times and now I think we are on the return and hopefully we will have a couple of really good years coming up.”
“Parramatta Station is a big ambulance station so we have a really large team but it’s all about team work. We have to work together otherwise the team just breaks down so we all help each other out. There is good jobs and bad jobs so we are there for each other no matter what.”
McSweeney will be attending the Round Four clash, representing the Ambulance service, along with participating in the guard of honour before the game..
“I think as paramedics we see it as an honour to help the people out but we also see that it is really fantastic that you guys (the Parramatta Eels) invite us to the stadium and do something for us.”
“There is quite a few Parramatta fans at the Ambulance Station and of course, the experience will only be better if we can get up and beat the Rabbitohs.”
