Dyldam Parramatta Eels five-eighth Kenny Edwards has described the Blue and Gold’s  win over the Gold Coast Titans as the toughest in his NRL career.

In temperatures of 33 degrees at kick off at Darwin’s TIO stadium dropping to below 30 by full-time, the usual second-rower said stepping into the number 6 jersey was physically demanding against an in-form Titans side.

“I’m out on my feet,” Edwards said.

“That’s probably the toughest 80 minutes I’ve played in my life.”

“They were coming at us down our right edge, they were really coming at us, targeting us. But I think Guth (Clint Gutherson) and Tep (Tepai Moeroa) on our right edge, we we really aimed up.”

“Our plan was to come up here and work hard on defence, and I think the boys turned up tonight and we really worked hard for each other.”

Edwards sent an offload to fullback Michael Gordon to score in the first half, but the stand-in five-eighth said the four-pointer was a credit to the Eels fullback.

“It was just a fluke,” Edwards said.

“I just closed my eyes and threw the ball I think, it’s a credit to ‘Flash’, everywhere the ball is, he is.”

“And at the end of the day [the win] came down to our defence and working for each other. Now  we just look forward to next week.”
