Each year as part of the Johnny Mannah Cup we support the work of the Mannah Foundation.
This year the Mannah Foundation is supporting the children at Compassion’s Mackay Child Development Centre in Uganda. These children are often stuck in the cycle of poverty and lag behind in skills development. They lack access to computers and graduate from the program computer illiterate, and struggle to get a job.
This project will provide the resources, equipment and material to establish a new skills development centre.
It will help enhance reading skills for 272 children through equipping the skills centre with age-appropriate books and training them in computer literacy, tailoring, knitting and shoe-making – giving these children the best chance of a bright future.
To help reach our goal of $35,000, NRL Team Captains, Tim Mannah and Paul Gallen are donating their jerseys from Saturday night’s game for a special online auction.

The Parramatta Eels go head to head with the reigning Premiers, the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks this Saturday (25 March), in the Club’s first home game of the season!
The Eels will welcome the Blue and Gold Army to ANZ Stadium for the first time in 2017 for an action packed Saturday night of football in Round Four, with the Eels and Sharks playing for the annual Johnny Mannah Cup, thanks to our game day partners at the Parramatta Leagues Club and our game day community partner, the Mannah Foundation.
As we honour former Eels and Sharks player Jon Mannah, and support the work of the Mannah Foundation, assisting young people from all walks of life, we are asking all Eels fans to join us for a special night filled with plenty of activity, kicking off with a minute’s applause before the game to remember a big man with a big heart.
As part of this special game, we’ll also be collecting any gold coins you can spare around the grounds to benefit the Mannah Foundation. The Parramatta Eels SG Ball, Harold Matthews and Tarsha Gale Nines sides will be roaming ANZ Stadium and have collection points near the stadium entry points, with buckets available for donations.
During the game, for all Eels tries scored during the clash, the Parramatta Leagues Club will be donating $1000 to the Mannah Foundation!
The Blue & Gold Flag will also be raised before kick off by Freddie Mannah, father of Jon and Tim, along with Freddie presenting the Johnny Mannah Cup to the winning team after the match.

Started in 2013, the Mannah Foundation was created to honour the impact made by Johnny Mannah. The Foundation looks to continue Jon’s tireless work in the community by entrusting. The Foundation supports organisations and young people creating positive change in their communities. The Mannah Foundation partners with youth-led charities to raise money for those less fortunate and in need.
This year, the Mannah Foundation is proud to partner with Compassion Australia to build a skills development centre in Uganda.
